Cheonan 천안 Revisted: Shopping!

Today is Independence Movement Day in Korea so we have a day off school. Most schools start tomorrow because of the holiday falling on Tuesday, but our school decided to start on the Monday. Not a big deal to me at all. I did just find out I missed a class on Monday =.=' TOTAL fail.

So I haven't really done any real shopping here in Korea yet, which is not a big deal since I'll be here for so long. However, there are a few items I really want to purchase that is only available in the winter season so I'm some what running out of time. A huge group of us headed out to Cheonan 천안 again! First we stopped by the Shinsegae Food Court again for lunch.

Korean cakes are so adorable! I just want to buy them and not even eat them. Ok who am I kidding I will eat them, but the motivation to buy them is even higher!!!

After lunch the guys and girls split up. The girls wanted to shop while the guys wanted to go and do "guy things". So us girls went to the shopping district. It's very interesting they have stores where things are really expensive and then they have stores where things are so cheap. There was this one lady who didn't even want us in her store when we walked in. She was so rude and told one of the girls that knew Korean that if we did not intend to buy we shouldn't be in her store...what kind of logic is that? I don't know.

"The North Pole" made me laugh when I saw it so I had to take a picture. Knock offs at it's finest!!! The 궁 Restaurant means the Palace Restaurant. I took a picture because that's the real symbol of my favourite drama by the same title 궁.

I had a successful shopping day. I bought 2 items out of 4 that I really want from the winter season. A GIANT scarf (20 000) and ear muffs (5 000)! I still want gloves connected by string and a fuzzy long winter jacket, Korean style. I also bought other "necessities" such as pens, a notebook, a comb (cause I was dumb enough to leave them all at home), a hydrating face mask because it's SO dry here, and nail polish + remover. I also bought a long sweater shirt for 5 000 won! That was definitely my best find for the day. That and the scarf...I really love my scarf I've been looking for so long. Olliver keeps making fun of me saying I'm going to wait till spring when scarves are no longer around.

I wanted to shop around a little more BUT the temperature kept dropping as it got later and later and we were all popsicles! That is definitely a sign to head home. Before we made it all the way back to the subway station we HAD to eat street food. I had one of my FAVOURITES which is the hot dog wrapped in odeng on a stick. Korea has this mustard that is so delicious it's way different than the ones we have in Canada and I can eat it with everything!!!

1500 Won for this delicious goodness. Some others also ordered Odeng (fish cake on a stick) which is also good for a freezing winter day because it comes w/ a cup of the broth too. The lady and old man that were running the stand were super super nice. That's me and Eun Jung enjoying our hot dog.

Waiting for our subway! Rok decided to try on Freggy's Pink earmuffs. The first picture I ask him why he closed his eye and he said that's the concept he was going for. HAHA. The guy with the red backpack is a random, but he has smiley faces on his jean pockets and I thought they were adorable!

I met a few new Korean students today. All of them are super cute. This is Star and her awesome fur trimmed coat. Most of them are first years and a few in second year.

We are now outside the station waiting for the taxi back to the school. The school is about a twenty minute walk away and by this point we were way too cold to walk. We had to wait a bit because there is a taxi stop but the we have to wait for taxis to come to the station. Luckily because we waited a bit longer we were able to catch the SCH shuttle (which I thought wasn't running) back to the school for free. I think normally the shuttle stops at the bottom of the mountain but he was SO nice he took right in front of our dorm.

Here's Mari, Allison and Eun Jung on the lovely SCH shuttle. I love that we have a free shuttle to the station it's pretty awesome.
