Hi Seoul Festival

May 10, 2011

This festival happens annually and is one of the biggest festivals in Seoul. From what I can gather, because even the website doesn't really explain it well, is that this is an art festival. There are plays, mimes, art all over different districts in the city.

Prior to attending the festival I made a small pit stop to Building 63. There is an observation deck at the top of the building and like Namsam Tower you can write on these plastic hearts and clip them onto the fences provided. Like most of Korea this is a couples activity but I am sure friends can do it too =) I did not go yet because I'm hoping to go with someone special...haha well if it happens it happens if not I will just go...

From Yeouido Station (여의도) there is a free shuttle bus that will take you to the building. The shuttle also stops at 2 other stations, but I can't remember them at the moment. Very convenient because the building isn't that close to the subway stops.

Then Neaveh and I went over to Yeouido Hangang Park (여의도 한강) to attend the festival. This was the main part of the festival with the other two spots located in Seoul City Center along Gwanghwamun (광화문)and Cheonggyecheon (청계천).

We caught the end of a children's parade where they were dressed up as animals and other things.

They were so cute!!! The weather wasn't the nicest it was rainy but luckily it was just overcast and cloudy for the most part. I want to go back to this part when the weather is nicer next time!

Next Neaveh and I caught a play. A moving, miming, dancing...play. It was neat because it did not stay in one spot which kept us all entertained so you were always on your feet as to where they would go next AND they didn't speak so anyone from anywhere can understand. It was an Alice in Wonderland themed play. From what I got out of it the rabbits were looking for Alice.

After this we went to Cheonggyecheon (천계천) to try and catch more of the festival, but most of the activities were finished so we just went to a coffee shop to chill out in.

We went to Tom N Toms...There are a lot of chain coffee shops here Tom N Toms is ok. I can't say that I LOVE it there but I prefer it over Dunkin Donuts. I know Dunkin Donuts is cheap so many people go but I really don't care for it. But you should try them all to see which ones suit your tastes better!!! There are so many you may never get to them all.
